Vintage planes, military vehicles, historical re-enactors and a fabulous 1940’s style swing trio – just some of the great attractions at this year’s Old Buckenham Airshow.
As official Air Show photographer for the 4th consecutive year, I got to capture all the excitement of this fun packed two day family event.
Stars and Stripes, Old Buckenham Airfield has a fascinating history, it was home to the 453rd bombardment group, who were based at the airfield during WWII. Hollywood movie legend, James Stewart, was stationed here during the war, the airfield cafe ‘Jimmy’s’ is named affectionately after him.
Wymondham 1986 Squadron RAF Air Cadets marshalling the event again this year, what a fantastic job these guys do.

The Food Village offered locally produced quality food.
After a rain shower on Saturday morning, the weather cleared into a hot sunny day and the crowds flocked to see an air display featuring vintage planes and a WWII ‘dogfight’.
The P-51D Mustang ‘The Shark’. Built in 1945, this aircraft starred alongside the B17 ‘Sally B’ in the Hollywood movie ‘Memphis Belle’.
The star of the show, the B-17 Flying Fortress ‘Sally B’, who played the lead role in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Memphis Belle’.

The VIP marquee looked stunning once again. Food provided by the award winning Brasted’s catering and events company.
The fabulous The Three Cordettes 1940’s style swing trio – these ladies were amazing and really wooed the crowds.
Day two of the show and the heavens opened, but the people still came and brought their brollies and smiles…
