At the end of March, I made my second visit of the year to Telford with the Royal Air Force Ice Hockey Association. This time to photograph the annual Sportsman Day, which brings together members of the Association to recognise achievement over the past year.
The event got off to a great start with a RAF Aces v RAF Saints game at Telford Ice Arena. Guest appearances were made by Scott Plews and Air Commodore, Mark Hunt. The match finished all square at nine goals each – or maybe it was more, I lost count!
The Association held its AGM at RAF Cosford, which was followed by a formal dinner and presentations at the nearby Park House Hotel, Shifnal. The Association welcomed ‘Gloves Off’ owner, Scott Plews, as guest speaker.
We said farewell to our president, Air Vice Marshall (Retired), Mike Quigley and welcomed on board our new president, Air Commodore, Mark Hunt.
The Rhagor Trophy, which recognises the greatest contribution to the RAFIHA, was awarded to James Tasker.
Josh Harris of the RAF Bluewings, was presented with the President’s Trophy for most improved player 2018.
The Bluewings’ Jason Devaney, was awared ‘Ace’ status as he was presented with the #24 RAF Aces jersey.
